I, Claudius.
This book made me interested in ancient Rome. A topic that I have tried to dodge for most of my adult life. I have always had an aversion to the number of Caesars and Antonys. Most of my knowledge of ancient Rome was from Julius Caesar by Shakespeare. This book was really engaging and interesting. I especially like the bits about gladiator fights. I guess that makes me a member of the unwashed masses. The book had a lot of political intrigue and a lot of different characters. It was enjoyable though, and I went to Tunisia from holiday and actually saw some names that I recognized from the Bardo museum. I would read more about Rome if there are other books this interesting, however, the end really got a bit boring. You could tell that Robert Graves was getting bored by the story and just wanted to polish off the book. It was also funny at points.
