Shopgirl
by Steve Martin
Book Read on 13 / 8 / 2003
This book was very good. One of the few great ones Iíve read in a long time. Martin is witty without being smug. And tender without being patronizing. The characters, all of them, are three dimensional, and like all media that I like, there are no good guys and bad guys, just folk. And they make mistakes, and have moments of beauty and clarity.
A quote:
îThey are nearly indistinguishable as they emerge in this rite, except that one man stands in the kitchen of a two-million-dollar house overlooking the city, and the other ina one-room garage apartment that the city overlooked.î P. 44
