The Body

by Hanif Kureishi
Book Read on 7 / 6 / 2004
This book was excellent. The writing was dense and rich, to the point that you had to re-read paragraphs to make sure you got it all. It was the story of an old man who buys a new body. Fascinating variation on an old theme. He picks a very handsome body and is beseiged by people touching him and looking at him that he doesn't desire. The tyranny of being good looking, an intersting spin. Of course, it all goes to shit when he bumps into another man who is looking for a body for his brother. And it ends, perfectly, with him beginning to run. Bravo! (It will make a great movie, also, I plowed through this book in two days.)
