Last Exit to Brooklyn
by Hubert Selby Jr.
Book Read on 14 / 7 / 2003
It was ok. It really made me not want to move to NYC. People there are pigs. And that is what I got from the book. It was probably art, in that there were a lot of Christic images, but some of them were just too obvious.
For example, in "Strike" the guy is basically crucified at the end. A sacrificial lamb. Duh. But the book was ok. It was a collection of short stories by the same guy that wrote "Requiem for a Dream", which might be worth reading. However, I don't really want to read more negativity right now. And man are these people negative. Everyone is getting beaten up. The kids are violent. The adults are cruel. Basically everyone is a monster. Which I suppose was his point.
