Wanda Hickey's Night of Golden Memories
by Jean Shepherd
Book Read on 15 / 12 / 2003
It sucked. Bad. He had a coupe of good descriptions, but it was a collection of stories and he kept recycling the same crap. And it was boring. "Knuckles like pool balls." "An Adam's apple like a *something* bobbing up and down in someone's throat." Everyone was enormous. Bad guys real bad. Good guys real good. In my book, I want the people to be a bit more three-dimensional. The book jacket compares him to Spalding Gray and David Sedaris, which is a bunch of hype. It sucked. One of the short stories about him going through his childhood crap ñ coke bottles etc, almost made me stop reading the book.
